YPSILANTI, MI - June 18, 2001 - Freedom Imaging Systems, Inc. (Freedom), announces the addition of Hospital Consolidated Laboratories (HCL), an entity of Providence Hospitals, Southfield, Michigan, to it's expanding list of clients using Freedom's RICAR (Report Image Capture and Retrieval) software suite for laboratory report management. Documents imaged at HCL will add to the annual volume of over 100 million documents imaged by Freedom clients utilizing the RICAR system.
Freedom will be providing an integrated document imaging system that will allow HCL's laboratory staff to easily track and access electronic records while ensuring a quick response to staff and patient needs. Under this system, scanners capture requisition information and transfer the images electronically from the laboratory to the billing department. Once the image is captured, the RICAR software electronically indexes them according to a barcode on the requisition. This customized system also allows managers to secure certain requisitions to control who can obtain patient information.
