YPSILANTI, MI - December 14, 1999 - Freedom Imaging Systems, Inc. (Freedom), announces the addition of Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center, in Dearborn, Michigan, to it's expanding list of clients utilizing Freedom's RICAR (Requisition Image Capture and Retrieval) software suite for laboratory requisition management. The installation makes this the twenty-second laboratory utilizing the Freedom software suite and document management solution. It is estimated that over 1 million documents will be imaged annually at the Dearborn location, adding to the already estimated annual volume of over 100 million documents imaged by Freedom clients using the RICAR system.
Larry Stach, Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center's IT Director, contacted Freedom realizing the need to improve efficiency and productivity of Oakwood's current document management system. Mr. Stach, who was transferred from Quest's Dallas laboratory this spring, has working knowledge and experience with the RICAR software suite and system, which was installed at Quest's laboratory in the spring of 1997.
Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center will be using Freedom's RICAR solution to replace an insufficient document imaging system that required nine employees, scanning documents twenty-four hours per day to complete the task of scanning their documents. The new Freedom solution will allow Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center to perform the scanning task using just two employees and completing the entire function within one eight-hour shift.
