YPSILANTI, MI - August 1, 2002 - Freedom Imaging Systems (Freedom), one of the leading data management and solutions developers in the United States, announces that St. Joseph Mercy Health Systems (St. Joe's) has chosen Freedom to implement a document and record management system to improve laboratory workflow in it's Ann Arbor, Michigan location. Freedom will be providing an integrated document imaging system that will allow St. Joe's staff to easily share, track and access electronic records while ensuring a quick response to staff and patient needs.
Before installing the system, laboratory employees were manually alphabetizing over 2,500 paper requisitions each day. Physician requests for test results often took up to one-half hour due to the manual searching through stacks of requisitions. Freedom's system now allows the laboratory to electronically scan and archive requisitions creating an easy and efficient system for locating records upon request.
"We're finding that for one job what used to take 2 hours now takes 30 minutes, and for another job what used to take 4 hours now only takes 15 minutes," states Pam Dean, the Service Delivery Manager at St. Joe's Ann Arbor.
St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, the Ann Arbor Division of St. Joseph Mercy Health Systems, is an academic teaching hospital and tertiary care center. It is a community hospital that provides specialized care in cardiology, oncology, women's health, rehabilitation, orthopedics and geriatrics.
