August, 2009 Ann Arbor, MI: Freedom Imaging Systems (Freedom), a leading data management and solutions provider, is pleased to announce Greeley and Hansen LLC has selected and installed Freedom’s RICAR SMB suite for its construction document management solution for a project at the Ann Arbor Waste Water Treatment Plant (AAWWT).
RICAR SMB (Record Image Capture and Retrieval for Small and Medium Businesses) is a specially designed turnkey document management software suite for small to medium sized businesses desiring an imaging/document management solution at a reduced cost. Freedom completed its development and began marketing it in May of 2008.
Working with Greeley and Hansen personnel, Freedom installed the RICAR SMB software solution in the 2nd week of August, 2009. AAWWT is using Freedom’s RICAR SMB solution for the capture, management and fast retrieval of shop drawings, training manuals, SOPs, video and construction photos. AAWWT is utilizing RICAR SMB’s feature that allows the organization to capture documents with their already existing multi-function printer/copier/scanner device as well as their new large format scanner. Freedom’s RICAR SMB will work with any network attached scanner allowing businesses to reduce entry costs associated with utilizing a document management solution.
Freedom’s RICAR SMB suite is comprised of such products as:
- FreeScan software for capturing documents via scanner.
- FreeImport software for importing any non-scanned file types into the management system such as Word/PDF documents, Faxes, WMV and MP3 files.
- FreeView software allowing for less than three (3) second retrieval of documents from Virtual File Cabinets for up to 25 users.
- FreeWorkflow (FreeWF) software for document/image indexing.
- FreeReport software for reporting productivity, document access and statistical activity.

ABOUT ANN ARBOR WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT
The Wastewater Treatment Service Unit of Ann Arbor, MI is responsible for the effective collection, treatment and environmentally acceptable discharge of the wastewater generated by the Ann Arbor community as well as portions of Ann Arbor, Pittsfield, and Scio townships. The Wastewater Treatment Service Unit is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant and eight sewage lift stations located around the City. Personnel are in attendance at all times as the plant runs on a continuous 24 hours a day, 7 days a week schedule.
