Sonora Quest Laboratories of Northern Arizona, located in Flagstaff, is the latest Sonora Quest location to “go digital” with Freedom’s RICAR (Record Image Capture And Retrieval) software, better enabling the facility to provide quality laboratory service to the communities of Northern Arizona.
Freedom’s integrated document imaging system will equip the new lab with cutting-edge technology to maximize its efficiency, productivity and customer service. Specifically, the imaging and indexing system will allow the laboratory’s staff to easily track and access electronic records while ensuring a quick response to staff and patient needs. With Freedom’s system, scanners capture requisition information and transfer the images electronically from the laboratory to the billing department. Once the image is captured, RICAR electronically indexes them according to a barcode on the requisition. This customized system allows managers to secure certain requisitions to control who can obtain patient information.
The Flagstaff lab joins Sonora Quest’s Phoenix, Tempe and Tucson locations in adopting a virtually paperless work environment with RICAR. Prior to instituting the Freedom system, Sonora Quest’s requisitions were archived on microfilm and moved throughout the office via a paper-based system. In addition, paper was required to queue in patient information and indexing was completed manually. Now, with Freedom’s integrated system, the clinical laboratory can improve processing times and avoid the hassle and difficulties of tracking and accessing paper documents.
